Spreckels Organ Society, a non-profit organization curating concerts and performances in the heart of Balboa Park, is hosting two holiday concerts, showcasing San Diego’s Spreckels Pipe Organ, the largest open air musical instrument in the world!

The Spreckels Organ Pavilion is decorated with holiday visual projections and cozy teddy bears to welcome a vocal quartet of San Diego’s leading figures to join San Diego’s Civic Organist Raúl Prieto Ramírez for an evening of Christmas Carols & Brilliant Organ Classics, Saturday, Dec. 16 at 6:30 p.m. The talented local singers include Anna Belaya (soprano), Bernardo Bermúdez (tenor), Sarah-Nicole Carter (mezzo-soprano), Michael Sokol (bariton), with Ramírez (organ and direction).

On Sunday, Dec. 17 at 2:00 p.m., the Society will host its annual Christmas Carols Sing-Along! Easily one of the most popular family-friendly programs of the year with traditional Christmas carols led by award-winning local singer Lauren Leigh and Ramirez on the organ. After an introduction of Christmas arrangements by Ramírez, the audience will be welcomed up on stage for a carols sing-along.

At the end of both concerts, the audience will be invited to sing the Hallelujah from Haendel Messiah along with the unique Spreckels Organ.

The Spreckels Organ Pavilion performances bring a one-of-a-kind experience for guests; the elevated music venue begets world-class musical artists for San Diegans and visitors to enjoy, for free. All concerts on the Spreckels Organ are complimentary to the public in accordance with the 1915 Deed of Gift whereby the brothers John D. and Adolph Spreckels gave the organ and pavilion to the City of San Diego. Donations are always accepted.
