A spectacular family holiday concert – Carols by Candlelight – will take place on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 12 & 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts. Now in its 36th year, proceeds from the two concerts will go to Rady Children’s Hospital.
The two nights of Christmas inspired concerts will feature country music stars singing their hits and favorite holiday songs. This year’s headliners include country music star Mark Wills, with 19 Billboard chart singles across seven albums, and top country music singer, Andy Griggs.
Wills’ eight Top 10 hits include “Jacob’s Ladder,” “I Do (Cherish You),” “Don’t Laugh at Me,” “Wish You Were Here,” “Back at One,” “19 Something,” and more. He has released Gold and Platinum albums and some of the most enduring and recognizable Country Music Hits of the last 25 years.
Griggs’ debut album, You Won’t Ever Be Lonely was a smash hit out of the gate and was ultimately certified Gold. His first three singles, “You Won’t Ever Be Lonely,” “I’ll Go Crazy” and “She’s More” were all Top 10 hits. Those hits were followed by more, like “Tonight I Wanna Be Your Man,” “She Thinks She Needs Me” and “If Heaven.”
Other headliners, and Carols by Candlelight veteran performers, include Anna Vaus, Back to the Garden, and Steve Vaus (2010 Grammy winner), Poway’s own mayor.
Anna Vaus, both an artist and a songwriter, has had songs recorded by Keith Urban, Maddie & Tae, Carly Pearce, and more. While blossoming as a writer in country music, her own artistry has garnered recognition from Rolling Stone, American Songwriter, and Billboard. She toured with Willie Nelson, Maddie & Tae, Trousdale, and others, with stops at The Grand Ole Opry and The Bluebird Cafe along the way.
Following the on-stage performances, to close the evening, the audience and stars meet in the courtyard and sing “Silent Night” by candlelight.
