San Diego hot glass and mixed media artist James Stone announces several new, unique summer experiences, including a 1-day glass camp for kids. Stone expands its summer class offerings on the heels of being named a Girl Scouts of San Diego/Imperial Counties Community Partner.

A Girls Scouts Community Partner is an organization approved by Girl Scouts San Diego to offer events and activities based on the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. For years, Stone and Glass has provided enriching class-based programming to a number of local troops; now, they can officially offer programming to the over 30,000 San Diego/Imperial County Girl Scouts.

At popular request, Stone and Glass has created a 1-Day Glass Camp for kids, ages 9 to 13, Thursdays in August from 9am to 3pm. The morning session will consist of working with cold class by creating glass tiles following patterns and samples provided or unique masterpieces using various pre-cut glass materials. The program includes lunch; and it’s another creative opportunity, which will be an interactive experience with Chef Charlie of Charlie’s Classic Cooking.  Following, the afternoon will be a hot glass demonstration, after which each student will work to create solid glass blown objects. Camp dates are August 6, 13, and 20, and limited to 4-6 kids. The cost per child, per day is $120.00. All tools and materials are provided, and pieces are ready for pick up in a week.

Additionally, Stone and Glass is offering a unique class program, called Fire & Fettuccine. Redefine family time in the class designed for people that come in groups and pairs – couples, friends, families, mothers and sons/daughters, fathers and sons/daughters. The concept: one person will take a glass blowing class, one person will take a cooking class, and then everyone meets for lunch. During the glass blowing session, every student will design and create a handmade artwork in glass; while in the cooking session, Chef Charlie will lead you through making pasta and sauce from scratch, as well as a few additional treats. The dual class is $125.00 per pair and is offered the last Saturday of each month, and available for private parties.

And for the adults, Stone and Glass is offering an Urban Fire and Wine class, which is a one-hour private instruction/glass blowing for two. The perfect date! Guided by glass blowing experts, sweethearts will design and create their own personal work(s) of art. The Art and Romance package includes tasting coupons for Escondido’s Urban Wineries. The class is $299.00 per couple, and is the last Saturday of each month or by reservation.
