
San Diego Moms is excited to announce the return of Family Safety Day: Hanging with Heroes, happening Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Mission Valley Shopping Center. Now in its biggest year yet, this free event will feature 80+ safety partners united around a single mission: helping families stay safe, informed, and connected.
This high-energy, family-friendly morning blends real-life safety education with superhero-sized fun—expect interactive demos, emergency vehicles, hands-on learning, and surprise visits from big-screen heroes. The event is expected to welcome over 800-1000+ local families.

This isn’t your average safety fair—Family Safety Day is designed to make learning engaging and unforgettable. Through live demonstrations, hands-on activities, and safety-focused performances, families will walk away with life-saving knowledge and a renewed sense of connection with their community’s protectors.

Hero Headquarters + Emergency Vehicle Display
Meet local heroes from SDPD, SDFD, FBI, San Diego Sheriff’s Department, DEA, and CHP. Explore fire engines, police cruisers, and off-road rescue vehicles up close—kids can climb in, ask questions, and snap photos with their city’s finest.

- Food Allergy Institute – Anaphylaxis Awareness**: Learn the signs of severe allergic reactions and how to use an EpiPen in emergencies.
- Play it Safe Self Defense**: On-stage demos and interactive kid-focused training on stranger awareness, abduction prevention, conflict resolution, and body safety.
- FBI San Diego – Child ID App: See how to store critical information about your children securely in case of emergency.
- North County Gymnastics & The Gyminny Kids**: Learn safe spotting techniques and how to prevent injuries during active play at home.
- Ecovivarium – Rattlesnake & Reptile Safety**: Meet rescued reptiles and discover how to stay safe around local wildlife.
- Safe Kids San Diego – Car Seat Safety Checks**: Free, expert car seat checks happening all morning for National Seat Check Saturday.
- DEA – Drug Safety Awareness**: Understand the dangers of fentanyl and other substances in San Diego, with Narcan demos and educational materials.
- Humane Society – Dog Safety Tips: Teach kids how to approach and interact with dogs safely, led by local animal safety experts.
- Prevent Drowning Foundation + Josh the Otter**: Water safety tips and storytime with Josh the Baby Otter, a character designed to help kids learn how to stay safe around water.
- HomeFree**: A family-owned, veteran-staffed home maintenance and handyman service dedicated to busy families. They’ll host a Touch-a-Tool Safety Zone and share why annual dryer vent cleaning is essential in preventing house fires.
