Coastal Roots Farm – a nonprofit Jewish community farm and education center in Encinitas – announces the first of its kind in Calif., if not nationally, Eco-Jewish Play Fest, featuring six recognized San Diego-based playwrights, plus one emerging teen writer, seven local directors, and 20-plus local actors. Together, they will have just 24-hours to create and perform brand new 10-minute plays, inspired by Eco-Jewish themes. The performances will be on Sunday, July 16 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., followed by an after-party hosted by the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center (JCC).

Plays will explore optimism and anger, Jewish tradition and love of the earth, regenerative agriculture and food justice, this moment, and our unknown future. On this Sunday evening, all plays will be performed on the Farm for a live audience in a communal celebration of creativity, joy, and quick-made art. This exciting event is being co-produced with the Lipinsky Jewish Arts Festival.

Following the performance, artists and audience members alike will be invited to mingle during an afterparty on the Farm as the sun sets from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Attendees are recommended to bring their own picnic dinner, a beverage, and blankets/lawn chairs and welcome Shabbat with the beautiful sunset and green scenery.

Suggested donation is $18 per person. For more information, visit www.coastalrootsfarm.org/event/eco-jewish-play-fest/.
