Children’s Museum of Discovery to Host “Ignite Their Spark” Fundraising Event on September 6

Children’s Museum of Discovery (CMoD), formerly known as the San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum, will host its second annual fundraising event on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025.

 

This year, the Museum celebrates its 25th anniversary with a silver-themed tribute, honoring 25 years of impactful early childhood educational resources for children and families. Proceeds from the event will support the Museum’s Access for All program, providing free and low-cost admission, workshops, and field trips to under-resourced families and Title-I schools in San Diego County.

 

Since Children’s Museum of Discovery’s founding in 2000, the Museum has served over 1.3 million children and families with interactive and hands-on STREAM education.

 

“Our programs and services are a vital resource for families and schools seeking high-quality and impactful educational experiences that build developmental skills essential for future success,” said Christina Piranio, Chief Executive Officer of CMoD. “Nearly 40% of our visitors qualify for EBT/WIC/SNAP. Ignite Their Spark provides critical funds for our Access for All program, removing any financial barriers to receiving early STREAM resources and providing free or low-cost admission to the families who need it most.”

 

Throughout the event, guests will commemorate milestones in the Museum’s history with interactive experiences that celebrate everything from the Museum’s founding as a traveling kite program to the launch of its Mobile Children’s Museum in 2015. In addition, guests are invited to savor hand-crafted cocktails by Snake Oil Cocktail Co. and indulge in heavy hors d’oeuvres by Harvest Kitchen while enjoying a delightful atmosphere with live music by Summit Drive, a silent auction, and gravity-defying aerialist entertainment.
