ArtWalk Liberty Station is back for its 18th year, bringing a weekend-long celebration of arts and culture to San Diego’s Liberty Station on Saturday, August 4, 5 and Sunday, August 6, 2023.

New this year, on Friday, Aug. 4 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., ArtWalk is offering a Preview pARTy, sponsored by Ranch & Coast Magazine, where guests can get early access to meet the artists and view art pieces before the crowds. The $25 ticket includes two drink vouchers. The sneak peek event will have live music by Band Overboard, San Diego’s premiere yacht rock group, tasty food options available for purchase and a few surprises.

The show celebrates creativity from both sides of the border, with more than 175 artists coming from across several states and Mexico to show and sell their artwork, including paintings, photography, glass and ceramic, jewelry, and sculpture. The Arts District at Liberty Station has blossomed into San Diego’s premier venue for arts, museums, dining, and entertainment. The fabulous outdoor setting features a verdant lawn and an abundance of free parking.

“ArtWalk at Liberty Station brings fine art outside, under San Diego’s sunny skies to create the opportunity for viewing art under natural light,” explains Curt Brooker, Director of ArtWalk San Diego. “Attendees can purchase artwork directly from the fine artists. It’s a memorable experience to meet the artists and learn what inspires them to create!”

The event will be fenced, even though admission is free. The fence allows attendees to enjoy beer and wine (for those 21-years and over) strolling around the event, rather than having to remain in a Beer Garden. Guests are asked to show their ID to receive a wristband to be able to purchase alcoholic beverages.

This fine art show is part of the ArtWalk San Diego brand known for bringing together all facets of the arts throughout San Diego, while promoting the experience of owning original art. Each of ArtWalk San Diego’s festivals support their non-profit partner, ArtReach San Diego, a nonprofit organization aimed at increasing equity in visual arts education in K-8 schools throughout San Diego County by delivering free or low cost workshops to schools that have no other resources for art, focusing on Title One Schools. Many of the programs ArtReach offers are provided at no cost to schools.

The event will run from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 5 and 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 6. Attendance and parking are free. More information will be released in upcoming months.

ArtWalk Liberty Station is located at 2751 Dewey Road. For more information on ArtWalk and its programs, please visit www.artwalksandiego.org.
