YOUtopia is San Diego’s official Burning Man event, coming up Oct. 15-19 in Jacumba, Calif. at the De Anza Springs Resort. This year’s theme is Kaleidoscope Bazaar. Tickets are now available.

The regional San Diego festival is organized by San Diego Collaborative Arts Project (SDCAP), a non-profit 501c3 organization at the heart of both San Diego CoLab, a collaborative makerspace in San Diego, and YOUtopia, which is the main fundraiser for their art projects and maker space.

YOUtopia (San Diego event) follows the “Big Burn” event, which takes place annually in Nevada (late August through Labor Day; this year, Aug. 24 through Sept. 1). Once a year, 80,000 people gather in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert to create “Black Rock City,” a temporary metropolis dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and participation. In this crucible of creativity, all are welcome. Around the world, “Burners” connect, learn, and build community via in-person Official Regional Events, and through cutting-edge virtual experiences.

At YOUtopia, San Diegans are invited to “uncover a realm of shimmering sights and curious encounters, where each twist and turn reveals a new marvel of camaraderie and artistry. Get ready to explore a world where every interaction is a new color in our collective creation.”

“Many people are curious about Burning Man but cannot commit to the main event – and this is a great place to dip your toe into the one-of-a-kind experience,” said Heather Thelen, co-executive producer for the event. “YOUtopia is our local version of Burning Man giving San Diegans an accessible version of the nine-day festival in the desert.”

General admission for YOUtopia is $263.75 (Tier 1, including processing fee) to $305.75 (Tier 3, including processing fee); children 14 and under are free. Parking Passes range from $53.75 to $263.75 (including processing fees). Volunteers providing 12 hours of time are offered a discount. Tickets can be purchased online at www.sdyoutopia.com/san-diego-youtopia-tickets-2025. For more information on YOUtopia, visit www.sdyoutopia.com.

San Diego CoLab is a non-profit community arts education and build space, whose mission is to make art creation accessible to the community. The studio offers a place to learn, connect and grow by providing a place to: take classes, build art projects, and organize events.

CoLab is located at 4667 Mission Gorge Place (Suite A; 92120), where many artists are preparing for YOUtopia. To learn more about their makers space and the artists participating, visit www.sdcolab.org.
