A spectacular family holiday concert – Carols by Candlelight – will take place on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6 & 7 at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. Now in its 35th year, proceeds from the two concerts will go to Rady Children’s Hospital.
The two nights of Christmas inspired concerts will feature country music stars singing their hits and favorite holiday songs. This year’s headliners include country music singer and billboard top 100 artist, Rodney Atkins, as well as multi-platinum recording artist and Rock and Roll Hall of famer, Richie Furay.
Performing on Saturday night only, Atkins has sold over 14 million records, over 1.5 billion on-demand streams, and multiple #1’s. He has become a backbone of country music. His mega-hits include “If You’re Going Through Hell,” “Watching You,” “Cleaning This Gun,” “It’s America,” “Farmer’s Daughter,” “Take a Back Road,” and many more.
Furay is an American music icon after an astonishing 60-year career in music that included pivotal positions in Buffalo Springfield, Poco, and the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band. He has been inducted into both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Colorado Music Hall of Fame.
Both headliners will be joined by singer and musician John Ford Coley. Revered as half of the Grammy nominated duo, England Dan & John Ford Coley. Coley has created many memorable hits such as: “I’d Really Love to See You Tonight,” “Nights are Forever Without You,” “Love is the Answer,” and many more.
Other headliners, and Carols by Candlelight veteran performers, include Anna Vaus, Back to the Garden, and Steve Vaus (2010 Grammy winner). Anna Vaus returns on the heels of an extended tour with Maddie & Tae and the release of her new single “Happy Trails.” She also recently performed with Keith Urban at the Country Music Television Awards.
Following the on-stage performances, to close the evening, the audience and stars meet in the courtyard and sing “Silent Night” by candlelight.
In addition to the live entertainment, the benefit also features a live auction offering autographed guitars and other items, as well as silent auction items and raffle prizes, donated by sponsoring organizations.
