**A big, new community arts project – Esco Alley Art – comes to Escondido**
Esco Alley Art is a three-phase mural project off Grand Avenue in Escondido with the goal of creating public art and continuing to make the city of Escondido a destination for the arts, community, and vitality.
Presented by the Escondido Arts Association and the Escondido Downtown Business Association, phase one of the project will be unveiled with 11 large paintings in the alley south of Grand Avenue between Broadway and Maple, as part of the monthly “Second Saturday Art Walk.”
** The public reveal and project kick-off will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 12. **
“The beauty of this project is that it is outdoors for all to enjoy,” said Carol Rogers, co-owner of Stone & Glass, a local downtown business, and one of the project sponsors. “We invite neighbors and guests to stroll by with a latte or cool drink in hand from one of the many nearby restaurants; a visitor can savor the works of accomplished and talented artists.
The concept for the project started with Heather Moe of Design Moe Kitchen and Bath, who collaborated with several local business owners, many of whom are Escondido-based artists. “It is a bold step by Escondido’s thriving and vital art and business community, promoting the very essence of urban, wall art,” said Moe.
The launch event is free and open to all. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at downtown restaurants. There will also be live entertainment.
Pounders will be offering a custom “Esco Alley Special” on their back patio in the alley adjacent to the event.
This unique, outdoor art gallery will not only offer a showcase for artists but will add to the growing economy of downtown Escondido. For more information on the project, visit www.EscoAlleyArt.com.
