The Super Dentists host back-to-school bash at their new Escondido location – 390 West Valley Parkway – with a carnival theme, Saturday, Aug. 12 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. The day will start with free dental visits from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for kindergarten and first grade health and dental screenings.
This much-anticipated, sixth location, originally opened in January 2020 and temporarily closed for a short time during the COVID-19 pandemic. “We have been waiting to officially open and celebrate the Escondido community with our neighbors, patients and partners,” said Dr. Kami Hoss, co-founder of The Super Dentists. “Escondido is an amazing community and we’re excited to introduce even more Escondido families to an out-of-this-world dental experience.”
The Escondido location features the first-ever Super Slide for kids (and adults) so they can slide from the main pediatric level to the lower VIP level where there is a separate lounge and treatment area for teens and parents. Teens and parents receive their own amenities like massage chairs, complimentary childcare, aromatherapy, and customized lattes.
On Saturday, Aug. 12, the back-to-school carnival will include games, live music, Escondido’s Got Talent performers, local entertainment, big prizes, bubbles, face painting, movie premiere and more.
The morning will also start with complimentary basic dental care to children in need, while also offering kindergarten and first grade health and dental screenings. The Super Dentists hope to see and treat more than 100 kids. Families are asked to register in advance and will be seen on a first-come, first-serve, or need basis.
All kids entering the public school system in California are required to have, and show proof of, an oral health exam. “By the time California’s children reach third grade, 70% have tooth decay, causing them to miss 51 million hours of school!” said Dr. Hoss.
One in five kindergartners have more than seven cavities. More than half of California kindergartners have dental decay, which has become the most common chronic disease in children today. This staggering statistic is more widespread than childhood obesity, asthma, and diabetes. Childhood dental tooth decay is four times more common than early childhood obesity, five times more common than asthma and 20 times more common than diabetes.
“Cavities indicate a bacterial imbalance which can be a sign of serious health issues,” adds Dr. Hoss. “Pain, lack of sleep, and poor nutrition are symptoms of undetected dental problems which can slow a child’s progress in school. This is why we are offering the free dental exams. We don’t want there to be a barrier for good oral health.”
The Super Dentists are passionate about kids and education and will also be offering regular complimentary dental hygiene presentations to Escondido schools. The 30-minute presentations feature puppets and visual aids and are appropriate for Pre-K through fifth grade, plus each child receives a goody bag to take home. Teachers can schedule their complimentary presentation by emailing [email protected].
The Super Dentists mission is to reinvent and transform dentistry. Since 1996, Dr. Kami Hoss, DDS, MS and his wife and business partner, Dr. Nazli Keri, DDS, have built The Super Dentists into the largest, most trusted, and top-awarded pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, and Parent Dentistry practice in San Diego. Everything they do is centered around kids. All their dentists are specialists in pediatric dentistry, and The Super Dentists use the latest in dental technology to make children’s dental visits more comfortable. Its superhero-themed offices feature lounges with games and movies, all created with the goal of creating positive associations with going to the dentists.
