St. Paul’s Senior Services’ (SPSS) executives Kim Stratman, General Manager at St. Paul’s Plaza and Alberto Aldrete, St. Paul’s PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) Operations Director, were recently selected to participate in the national Larry Minnix Leadership Academy, sponsored by LeadingAge, for the 2023 program year.
For more than 60 years, LeadingAge has committed itself to being the trusted voice for aging. The association is a 5,000-member organization devoted to advocating for universal access to high-quality programs and services for older adults.
The Larry Minnix Leadership Academy is a year-long program designed to develop the leadership capacities and core competencies of aging services professionals by tapping into their natural talents and authentic leadership styles. The year-long curriculum provides a leadership foundation rooted in reflective practice—developing a deep understanding of oneself, uncovering one’s unique leadership attributes, and learning how to stretch and leverage those capacities to have the most impact as leaders.
As the General Manager of St. Paul’s Plaza, an aging in place community consisting of independent living, assisted living and memory care, Stratman is responsible for providing comprehensive leadership, including goal setting, operational management, and long-term growth. Stratman’s career started with St. Paul’s PACE in 2011 where she served in several roles including Health Plan Manager, Supportive Housing Manager and Center Director. During her time at PACE, Stratman helped house over 200 homeless seniors and facilitated the opening of two housing projects. In May of 2020, Stratman became the General Manager of St. Paul’s Plaza.
“I am deeply honored to be selected to attend the Larry Minnix Leadership Academy. Under the direction of the leadership program, I look forward to enhancing my knowledge in leadership and applying innovative visionary strategy to achieve desired goals from a team of empowered experts. This is a year-long investment in my growth and leadership journey, and it is a privilege to have the support of St. Paul’s Seniors Services,” said Stratman.
As the Operations Director of St. Paul’s PACE, Aldrete leads all St. Paul’s PACE centers throughout San Diego County in providing needed care for 1,300 frail and low-income San Diego seniors. Aldrete negotiated new, large contracts that bring additional services to St. Paul’s PACE and its participants. He directs and oversees multi-process improvement campaigns and has spearheaded the implementation of the new Mobile Medical Clinic for St. Paul’s PACE participants during the COVID-19 pandemic, where accessibility to the centers were limited.
“I’m so humbled and excited to have been nominated and selected to attend the 2023 Larry Minnix LeadingAge Leadership Academy. I look forward to joining a diverse network of peers, all committed to aging services, and dedicated to lifelong learning. I am grateful for this opportunity from St. Paul’s PACE,” said Aldrete.
The Larry Minnix Leadership Academy 2023 program starts February 13, 2023.
