In celebration of Earth Month, Nature Collective is hosting three free events in April, including a Discovery Tour on Saturday, April 6, a Wildlife Tour on April 13, and a Volunteer Restoration project on Saturday, April 20. Additionally, they are co-hosting, with the County of San Diego Parks and Recreation, two additional free events – a Family Fun Day on Sunday, April 7, and a Spring Festival on April 13.
Nature Collective is a local conservation and science education nonprofit organization. They work to restore habitats and provide healthier waters and greater wildlife diversity. They are dedicated to conserving the land and providing experiences for people to fall in love with nature.

Discovery Tour: Family Friendly, Ages 9+ – Accessible Trail – Registration Required
San Elijo Lagoon: Meet at the San Elijo Lagoon Nature Center: 2710 Manchester Ave, Encinitas, CA 92007
Discover the beauty of San Elijo Lagoon: where fresh water and saltwater meet and mix, migratory and resident birds share a sanctuary, and many animals find a home. This guided tour will inspire all to watch and listen for various birds that rest in – and fly across – the salt marsh and mudflats. No matter the season, you can enjoy, photograph, and identify a host of native plants. Our Nature Center Loop Trail is accessible, providing fun for all. Volunteer Emmy Garnica leads April’s nature experience.

San Diego families are invited to join Family Fun Day. The April event will feature Traveling Seeds. Enjoy hands-on activities, from craft-making to animal encounters. Nature gets the spotlight with Nature Collective and San Diego County Parks + Recreation rangers with family-friendly experiences, live presentations, and more. Every month, Nature Collective features a new topic for all the fun. Each Family Fun Day includes TRACK Trails activity guides. Plus, young attendees can earn a Junior Ranger badge. Spring is in the air, and the natural world is abuzz. Join the spring festival celebrating nature’s renewal. Learn why flowers and pollinators need each other and discover ways you can help pollinators thrive.
Are you as fast as a hummingbird? Find out the answer in our animal athlete obstacle course! Interact with our highest-flying birds, get your face painted like one of your favorite pollinators, join us in the Bounce House, and enjoy healthy fruit provided by Jimbo’s Naturally and coffee provided by Starbucks.
Co-presented by Nature Collective + County of San Diego Parks and Recreation, the festival aims to be a zero-waste event.

Volunteer Restoration Event: Family Friendly; Ages 6+ – Registration Required

One of many restoration projects in need of help to restore precious habitats within San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve and the surrounding areas. From removing invasive plants to helping grow native plants indigenous to the area, San Diegans are invited to help nature thrive, which benefits wildlife and our communities.
