After a two-year delay, Local Roots Hard Kombucha opens its much-anticipated “Boochyard” tap room in North County. Owned, brewed, and operated by cousins – Ryan White and Joe Carmichael – Local Roots will host a grand opening celebration on Saturday, March 26 from noon to 11:00 p.m. The all-day event will feature live music, giveaways, along with drink and food specials.

The new 7,500-square-foot space (2,000 indoor and 5,500 outdoor patio) on the border of Vista and Carlsbad, will serve all products and flavors including favorites, such as: Cali Mule, Blood Orange Mimosa, Strawberry Mojito, Purple Haze, Island Vibes, Mai Tai, and a specialty Hop ‘N Citrus, collaboration with Second Chance Brew Co. The taproom has 30-plus flavors on tap with core and experimental hard and non-alcoholic kombucha options, always pushing the envelope of better-for-you organic alcohol. Cans, crowlers and growlers are all available to-go as well.

Local Roots’ newest varieties – non-alcoholic (Strawberry NO-jito, Virgin Islands, and Purple Daze), now available on draft and in cans to-go, Variety Packs, and Hard Tea, only available in-house – will join the Boochyard. Local Roots also likes to support its neighbors and has rotating local guest beers on tap, as well as wine.

Also debuting this spring is Local Roots’ Can-for-a-Cause to benefit the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance. Launching April 1 with special can art, proceeds between April and June will be donated to the Alliance, an international, nonprofit conservation organization.

The Boochyard will also offer food with a full kitchen, serving tasty bites and full entrées. The Boochyard’s indoor-outdoor taproom also includes games and will regularly host musical guests. The grand opening event will showcase performances by the Zach Gutierrez Trio from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m., Kiki (reggae) from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., and San Elijo Hills’ locals The Tesoros from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.

White and Carmichael, who share a passion for health and wellness, brewed the business out of a love for clean eating and cold pressed juicing after family health battles with cancer and gut health. First launched in 2019, the cousins first took time to understand the process of commercial brewing and canning, now Local Roots can now be found in stores throughout California and Arizona. Local Roots is dedicated to give back to local communities while having a positive impact on our planet. They donate regularly to both local and environmental non-profits; the brewery is also solar powered and uses transparent and sustainable ingredients.

The Boochyard is located at 1430 Vantage Court, Suite 101 in Vista (92081). Taproom hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays noon to 11:00 p.m. and Sundays noon to 9:00 p.m.
