Mid-spring is a kaleidoscope of color: blue sage, white fiesta flower, yellow sea dahlia, red monkey flower, and purple lupine. We have previously found an impressive 52 species in just two hours – can we outdo ourselves this year? Join this nature challenge and keep your peepers peeled.
Weather permitting. Wildlife is unpredictable. There is no guarantee of what you will see.

Join Nature Collective and The Queer Sol Collective for a day of re-establishing our relationship with nature and building community. Together volunteers will plant native plants, remove invasive species, and take willow cuttings at San Elijo Lagoon while restoring the symbiotic relationships between the individual, the land, and the collectives. This event will offer a talking circle, a place of safety, discovery, healing, and wellness, and a nature tour celebrating the planet’s inherent queerness as we celebrate Earth Day today and every day.
This 2SLGBTQ+ focused event is open to everyone, especially encouraging the Queer community to come together to celebrate Earth Week and cultivate and create a more sustainable, positive, and inclusive environment for all.
“Regular monthly Volunteer Restoration projects are already full for the month of April,” said Jennifer Bright, Interim CEO for Nature Collective. “We encourage interested volunteers to look to future months to get their hands dirty and give back to our community. May (7 and 17) volunteer projects have just been posted.”
