Coastal Roots Farm – a nonprofit, organic community farm and education center in Encinitas, inspired by Jewish values – announces their 2025 Farm Film & Music Series, designed to bring the community together around shared values to protect people and our planet. This year’s series kicks off Thursday, June 26 and runs monthly through September.
The Farm invites families, friends, and the entire community to join them from summer to fall for an entertaining 4-part film series. The series will feature inspiring documentary films, local musicians, and meaningful conversations around equitable food systems, environmental justice, and caring for the planet. Attendees will learn from dedicated activists, scientists, farmers, and politicians about how regenerative agriculture has the potential to save our soil, rebuild our communities, combat climate change, and feed the world.
The first screening on June 26 at 8:00 p.m. will be “Common Ground,” the highly anticipated sequel to the juggernaut success documentary, Kiss the Ground, which touched over 1 billion people globally and inspired the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to put $20 billion toward soil health. By fusing journalistic expose with deeply personal stories from those on the front lines of the food movement, “Common Ground” unveils a dark web of money, power, and politics behind our broken food system. Narrated by Woody Harrelson and featuring Rosario Dawson, Laura Dern, Jason Momoa, and more, this is a must-see for anyone who cares about the future of food and climate.
Additional Farm Film and Music Series dates include:
- Thursday, June 26: Common Ground; doors open at 6:30 p.m.
- Thursday, July 24: “San Diego: America’s Wildest City;” doors open at 6:30 p.m.
- Thursday, Aug. 28: “Last Stand and Fireline;” doors open at 6:00 p.m.

Before the films, there will be live music, mingling and a chance to speak with local organizations related to the feature film’s theme, with the film screening to follow. Additionally, there will also be a panel discussion relevant to the theme of the screening at each event.
