**The Alpine sanctuary holds annual holiday event & tree lighting with COVID-19 friendly safety protocols**
San Diego, Calif. (Nov. 19, 2020) – The Children’s Nature Retreat, a 20-acre animal sanctuary in Alpine with 140-plus domesticated animals, hosts annual Winter Fair on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a tree lighting at 5:00 p.m.
The Retreat celebrates the holiday season – animals and all! Guests can enjoy hot cocoa and coffee, shop locally sourced, unique gifts, paint ornaments with the kids, enjoy a good ol’ fashion BBQ, take a family photo in front of the Christmas Tree, and more!
“We are so excited to be able to safety host our annual Winter Fair at the Retreat this year,” said Agnes Barrelet, executive director. “Please join us for lots of socially distanced, family friendly, outdoor holiday fun.”

The animal sanctuary is open by appointment only, limiting to 100 people/day (Thursday through Sunday). Guests are required to wear masks at the entrance, and if they come within 6-feet of anyone outside of their family/household; visitors can roam the outdoor property on the self-guided tour without masks.
Sanitizer is offered at the entrance, bathrooms are open and picnic tables are set up at least 6-feet apart, and guests are asked to sanitize before they are used via a disinfectant station.
Events like this help the Retreat to care for the more than 140 domesticated livestock and exotic animals from around the world – 22 different species and 58 distinct breeds.
