Held every summer since 1998, the Carlsbad Village Association’s Art in the Village will return on Sunday, June 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for its 27th year!
This one-day, open-air art show brings together more than 150 local and regional fine artists for a dynamic, coastal-influenced art show. All artwork is juried, guaranteeing excellent quality in a wide variety of mediums, including oil, watercolor, mixed media, digital, glasswork, photography, woodworking, jewelry, pottery, sculpture, and more. Patrons can interact with the artists in their booths, and all artwork on display is for purchase.
Entertainment sponsor, Rincon Homes, will bring more music to the stage and sidewalks – adding more ambiance than ever before. Musical stage acts include:
- Morgan Leigh Band, bringing high energy country to the stage – nominated for “Best Country/Americana” by San Diego Music Awards.
- SoCal favorite The Ramblin Sweethearts, fusing their love of rockabilly, blues, roots and soul, and…
- The David Spitzfaden Trio, who inspire audiences to rock out, dance, and feel the music.
The new Chalk Zone will feature five artists, including:
- Two Carlsbad icons, Phyllis Swanson and Ron Juncal.
- Swanson has worked as a muralist with Studio 2 in Carlsbad for the last 25 years. She has been a featured artist for Carlsbad’s Artsplash, two years as featured artist for Chalk La Strada in San Diego’s Little Italy and inclusion in the prestigious i’Madonnari street painting festival in Santa Barbara.
- Juncal has been the owner of Studio 2 since 1990 and the co-founder of Art Splash (chalk art festival) that continued for 13 years in Carlsbad.
- And, Katie Bush, a well-known chalk artist from Oceanside.
Celebrating the dynamic art culture in Carlsbad Village and the surrounding areas, this annual event attracts approximately 10,000 art enthusiasts each year. Starting at 10:00 a.m., just two blocks from Carlsbad State Beach, attendees can browse vibrant exhibits and meet the artists along State Street and Grand Avenue. Art in the Village also features:
- Three musical acts on the State Street Main Stage.
